Pittsburgh is quite amazing…besides being home to several Well Dunne! Talent voices (and all round fun professionals!) it’s where radio first signed on the air, where The Avengers was filmed, and it home to the Robot Hall of Fame. No, really it is. With that in mind, it’s no wonder COLIN WILES is happy to be returning to his hometown. Colin is going to be the new News Brand Producer for TRACY OLIVER at Hearst’s WTAE. Colin is a grad of Slippery Rock State University, which has to be one of the most original names for, well, for anything let alone an institution of higher learning. This isn’t Colin’s first gig…but it will see him changing departments, leaving behind the news and being part of the marketing team. Excellent – he’ll be learning from Tracy who is a whiz! He’s been putting the news together down in Fort Smith, Arkansas for Tribune-owned KSFM, the CBS affil. Well Dunne! Colin.

What a long, slog of a week. But, from every face plant to the canvas, we rise…and better, bigger adventures greet us. Mold our growth. So, with that in mind, let’s focus at some fun things from promo types here and there, like WAHEED ALQAWASMI, late of TV promo at FOX in Memphis (Cox’s WHBQ) . He‘s in Oxford, Mississippi this weekend with his film, Lives Restarted for the Oxford Film Fest. It’s a documentary about Holocaust survivors…how they survived the camps, made their way here to the US, to Memphis specifically. How they restarted their lives…rose up. Can’t wait to see it – it’s more important now than ever. If you’re anywhere near Mississippi, go.  Well Dunne! Waheed.

The List’s Social Media guru LAUREL PORTIE doesn’t just go home and collapse in a heap on the sofa. No no no. She and her partner have She Bikes, a line of shirts for ladies who love to cycle…it’s great. And, since I’m not in government, I can tell you to buy one or two. Hit up Laurel or me for details.

Next time, we’ll introduce the new News Brand Manager at WTAE in Pittsburgh. Yehaw! Til then stay warm or head south. Well Dunne! everyone for surviving the week.

He won’t be on the job until April 13th, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to send out the word about JON HELM, who has been named Assistant Creative Services Director at Pittsburgh’s WTAE, the Hearst-owned ABC affil. Mr. Helm will be moving east from Milwaukee’s WISN, where he’s been honing his creative and leadership chops under wonderful CSD LAUREN RIDGLEY. The U of Wisconsin – Oshkosh grad is going to love his new boss, fabulous CSD TRACY ACORD OLIVER, who brilliantly pointed out Jon is quick to smile and is quite the cameraman in addition to all his other plusses. Mr. and Mrs. Helm have their hands full at the moment, but let’s send out a hearty Well Dunne!

Think About This: “It is now highly feasible to take care of everybody on earth at a higher standard of living than any have ever known. It no longer has to be you or me. Selfishness is unnecessary. War is obsolete. It is a matter of converting the high technology from weaponry to livingry.”  ~ Buckminster Fuller
