Portland, Oregon is one of those markets that people call me about…hey, Bacon, how do I get a job in Portland? Yep, it’s one of those great markets. So it was just wonderful to hear about a talented guy who has landed there at KION heading up their marketing and creative. He’s making the transition from St. Louis, where he will no doubt miss the best pizza in the land (sit down Chicago). But there’s so much to do and see and experience in Portland, he can probably find a good pizza anyway. We’re talkin’ about TONY GETTS who found himself in the Pacific Northwest about the first of the year to take over marketing for the Nexstar CBS station. He had been at KMOV in St Louis before all that nasty business with the sale and the layoffs. Tony spent a lot of time in Ohio where he got a degree from Ohio U, worked at ABC in Toledo, WBNS in Columbus, and WHIO in Dayton before Cox sent him down to Orlando to WFTV. I hope in the 5 years he spent in St. Louis he became a Cardinals baseball fan. Forgot to ask. But he’s a guy with good taste and he’s smart, so let’s bet he did. Very happy to hear, Tony. Well Dunne!
Good heavens it’s February. January was the slowest and fastest month to date imho. The Chinese New Year tells us the next 365 are the year of the Tiger.

Think About This: “Every morning when I wake up and get dressed, I leave my hut and take a walk. Usually the sky is still dark and I walk gently, aware of nature all around me and the fading stars. When I think of the earth and my ability to walk on it, I think , “I’m going to go out into nature enjoying everything beautiful, enjoying all its wonders. My heart is filled with joy.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
