As exciting as the Super Bowl was, can’t say the same for the very expensive spots. Celebrity-laden yes. I watched with two 40 something professional people, one woman and one man. She’s a financial advisor and he’s in the music industry. They were not amused. My own little focus group. Some spots were met with ‘what IS that product?’ and, well, nothing stood out. Of particular disappointment was Budweiser and the Clydesdales. I never thought anyone could make the Clydesdales boring, yet they did. AND they messed up the dog. A dalmatian is what rides on the beer wagon – they had a golden retriever. Really? OMG how unacceptable.
That said (and yes I do feel better thank you) let’s introduce a new Facebook group. Please join. I’ll send an invite it you ask. It’s called TVME which stands for Television Marketing Endeavors and it’s for all the creatives out there who are navigating the tsunami waves of change in media. This is the place to roll with the changes that seem to come along daily. Where do we all fit in anymore? Well, we’ll discover that together. Lots of former TV types will be around to offer info and direction. Lots of new ideas and systems to learn. And we’ll have fun. So check it out. Welcome one and all. It’s a private group so we can be more direct than normal.
