Certain call letters are so cute. True, cute isn’t a word that people like hearing about their TV station, but cute is memorable. Memorable is marketing. WPCH is cute and it’s in Atlanta, capital of The Peach State. It’s an indie station that is a duop of WGCL, the CBS flagship station of Gray Television. Peachtree TV as they call themselves has a new Station Manager; one with a strong promo background. MICHAEL SMITH is the man and he’s transitioning from Marketing Manager of WGCL. Very nice. Readers know this writer’s feelings about the reasons a marketing pro makes a much better GM than others. Michael has worked for Fox Affiliate Marketing and has done radio promotion. Music plays a big part of his life and he’s been on the air as an announcer, etc. A grad of Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) he’s gonna be a helluva Station Manager. Well Dunne!
