It’s always such a pleasure to catch up with someone you’ve known for ages. Such was the fun of Tuesday’s conversation with the wonderful CHRIS FRIEDRICHS coming in loud and clear from Orlando. Chris is one of the people that you can’t remember when you met him, only that you have known him for years (too many to count at this point). He’s been at the Fox station in the Big O for 14 years and before that he was in Richmond with Media General (remember them?) and, well, you get the picture. Mr. Chris had news that is both exciting (for him) and not so exciting for the TV marketing biz. Being a good…no, make that being a GREAT son, Chris is going to be stepping away from WOFL as well as Central Florida next month so he can attend to his mother. These family decisions are never easy, especially when you have a job you love, work with people you admire, and know there is not going to be a happy ending. Some of you have been in his shoes, and you know the kind of courage it takes to put one foot in front of the other and walk in a new direction. But he’s someone who understands the Right Thing, and he’s doing it. You all should let him know you support him, because TV marketing isn’t always kind to those who take a break, no matter what the cause. And yes, it’s a fab job and you need to jump on it if its of any interest. Even if that means Rupert Murdoch is your ultimate boss. Chris, you are the best. Well Dunne!
