The labor shortage making headlines has hit the world of TV marketing. Yes indeed, a good producer is getting as hard to find as affordable building supplies. No, creatives are not staying home ‘getting rich on unemployment’ as some fake news outlets keep repeating. Shame on them. No, there just aren’t as many creatives interested in TV promotion. It’s sad and unnecessary – and there are few groups interested in finding out why or how to remedy the problem. Could it be the embarrassingly low pay rates some dictate? Or is it a career with limited upward mobility? [Note to us all – discussion needed on exactly what that means in today’s environment] Perhaps the fun of the job has evaporated? All in all, it leaves great stations and super CSD’s in a bind.
One such great CSD is CHRISSY FUNK, who is searching for a producer for her Graham-owned station, WSLS in Roanoke. It’s the NBC affiliate in a gorgeous, nature-filled market in the rolling mountains of southwest Virginia. And Graham is honestly one of the best group ownerships around. Here’s the link. I would NOT steer you wrong.
