On the eve of Thanksgiving, the horrible helicopter crash on the 22nd in Charlotte brought up some thoughts that seem both apropos and sad. The pilot who perished, CHIP TAYAG, had the skills and the heart to make sure his failing craft would not crash on I-77, perhaps killing innocents. He succeeded in that hope but we’ll never get to thank him or celebrate him for it. Along for the ride was Meteorologist JASON MYERS. Both men worked for Gray’s CBS affiliate in the Queen City, WBTV. The staff are no doubt in shock. Most weren’t born in 1963 when November 22 sadly distinguished itself as the day President John F Kennedy was assassinated. Now everyone who worked alongside these two men will remember the day for a different event, but the same heartbreaking. Loss and shock seem to write in deep, heavy stroked on our hearts. We all band together to send strength, comfort and understanding to all who knew and worked with them, as well as their families and friends and neighbors. This Thanksgiving let’s remember to include them in our list of what we are thankful for as well as to remember to let everyone we love and care for that they are cherished. For you readers of these posts, the thank you I send is from my heart. May this holiday be one that makes you happy and brings you laughter.
