Hate to keep writing about people getting out of the business, but sadly that seems to be the major trend. For instance LOU CUCINELLI, who was splendid wrangling creative for WANE in Fort Wayne has shut the door for the last time on his CSD slot at the Nexstar operation and is now the Creative Services Director for the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne. I know several folks who did the same kind of thing – taking their talents and skills to market the Y in Philly. Will def miss Lou, but thrilled he has such a great new slot. Well Dunne!
For those who want to make the transition to another market segment, great advice from a former TVer who now heads comms for a major international company. And it underscores the need to rebrand the very position you have. Nobody outside of TV knows what a Creative Services Director does. Marketing Director yes, but not CSD. If you’re using the CSD, perhaps you will want to rethink. And all those cutesie little names, like Success Manager…no. Just no. Remember who you want to hire you and then speak their language. Class dismissed.
Job Alert – CSD at WANE Fort Wayne (Lou’s old job)
Job Alert – Writer/Producer WJBF Augusta
Job Alert – Marketing Producer / Artist KENS5 San Antonio (work with DON SMITH!!)
Think About This: “Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place. “ ~ Kurt Vonnegut
