More and more marketing creatives are exiting the building, and they’re turning off the lights. For instance, DAVE DWINELL is a very talented writer, producer, radio host and marketing guy. He’s taken a new gig as Creative Content Producer for Crete Carrier Corp out in Lincoln, Nebraska, where he was Promo Manager for KLKN…twice. Yes, he was MarCom for the ABC affil for nearly 17 years, left to do a radio on-air gig and such, then returned. Alas the new landscape of corporate shareholder and not viewers being the goal, it didn’t work out. He’s exactly the kind of creative local television needs; it was more than a job and he gave it his all. Pity to see him pivot to another industry while TV GM’s call begging for help filling such roles at their stations. Well Dunne! Dave.
Former Promo Pro KAREN FUJII has a sweet new gig. She’s even got herself in the VP club as the VP of Marketing and Communications for the Girls Scouts of Western Washington. State. Just the idea of an extra thin mint now and then is fab perk. She headed up MarCom for KCTS in Seattle at one time. Well Dunne! Karen.

Talking with a financial advisor friend…their market segment can’t find people to fill empty jobs or even expand. Her take on the shortage was pretty good…as a whole, employees don’t want to work for people they don’t like, respect or who are poor communicators. Hmmm that makes perfect sense. Are real leaders being sussed out of the system with the goal to wring every cent out before each market segment is totally discarded? Asking for a friend.
