Everybody has their own way of remembering things. Yes, let’s focus on 9/11. Some of us were working at TV stations and had a unique experience, if no doubt a distinctive view, of everything that happened in New York, DC and Pennsylvania. Some of us were young – still in school. Terre Haute’s TIM SANDERS, now the Local Sales Manager of the Nexstar duop WTWO/WAWV, was working at his college radio station in Mattoon, IL when the phone rang. He was on air, in the middle of an alternative rock music set. Every September, we all remember when the towers fell in personal terms. Tim does, and he also has found a way to remember and make a difference at the same time. The Great American Relay came about as a way to raise money and remember the first responders and military who keep us safe daily. Tim (and his brother) are going to be part of this, taking the two stages of the race right as it enters Illinois. Tim started running about a year ago and has aced it…he runs 3 miles a day and the leg he’ll run is 11 miles. The race itself starts on 9/11 at the exact time the first tower fell. From Boston to LA’s Santa Monica pier…3,500 miles and 38 days. What a hands on (or should that be running shoe on?) way to reach out and make a positive difference. In advance but for everything you do, Tim….Well Dunne!
PS – Anybody who would like to support Tim, just hit him up at the station.
