No matter what’s happening, it would be a great shame if we let St. Patrick’s Day slip by because we are fleeing germs while desperately seeking leadership and, it seems, toilet paper. Father’s family was Irish, and for as long as he lived, a bouquet of green carnations would arrive at my door on March 17. The card always read: “Keep those Irish eyes smiling. Love Papa” Now, as we isolate and worry about all the myriad of happenings we can’t control, it seems rather odd to ask for a bit of levity and fun. Yet what better time to drop our troubles for a moment or two and raise a glass, or dance a jig, or just laugh like you did when you were little. Yes, the focus on people with new jobs will continue, but not today. Yes, we will all be fine, but today we need to carve out some time to enjoy this morn in spring and feel the angels singing.
Think About This: “Every handshake we don’t shake must be a phone call that we place. Every embrace that we avoid must be a verbal expression of warmth and concern. Every inch and every foot we physically place between ourselves and another must become a thought as to how we help each other. Let’s stay safe and draw each other closer in a way that we’ve never done before.” ~ Rabbi Josef Kanefsky
