Why does a Creative make a getter GM than a salesperson? Because a salesperson is trained to get to ‘yes’ then move on. A Creative person is trained to see a big picture, identify a goal, herd the cats of creative to work together to make that goal a reality. A person who knows how it all works. So, it’s very exciting to see the creatives who have been tapped to run stations, all while the winter and spring of 2020 passed outside our windows.
JEFF HOLUB is going from Atlanta to the upcountry of South Carolina as VP / GM of the Meredith Fox affil in Greenville, WHNS. You can see the station from I-85. Jeff has been Station Manager for Meredith’s CBS WGCK after arriving there as Marketing Creative head. His illustrious marketing background includes WSOC in Charlotte and the Cox duopoly in San Francisco market, KICU and KTVU. Well Dunne! Jeff.
SCOTT CHASTAIN is now in Sacramento at Nexstar’s Fox affil, KTXL. Official title VP GM. He joined Nexstar as a GM for their Lansing operation, WLNX and duop WLAJ after many years at NBC where so many of us knew him via Affiliate Relations. The Aggie (Texas A&M) has worked doing marketing in New Orleans as well as Winston-Salem. Sweet. Well Dunne! Scott.
ROBBY THOMAS is now wrangling the CBS affil in Dothan, Alabama. WTVY are the calls. He’s closer to family now, and the University of Georgia alum probably doesn’t mind driving a tad farther to the football games (if they have football this year). Robby has been on camera as a reporter at WMBB in Panama City, Marketing Director of Raleigh’s WNCN as well as Charlotte’s WBTV. Well Dunne! Robby.
Kudos to Nexstar, Meredith, and Gray for their decisions.
