When something happens that is just perfect…it’s amazing. When it happens in today’s economy, it’s nearly a miracle. So let’s shine our  miracle flashlight on TOM ROGERS, who has been named the Creative Services Manager of the FOX/CW duop in St. Louis, KTVI and KPLR respectively. It’s a miracle flashlight because the new job is so perfect for Mr. Rogers. (That’s not Tom in the picture…keep reading and you’ll find out who it is) Tom’s a South Carolina boy who’s been in the River City long enough to know the best place to get Italian food over on The Hill. Family loves it there, so…when the slot opened up at KTVI/KPLR, it proved to be the Win-Win that we all talk about. A place where the work is appreciated is how he described it. He’s already on the job, having left Belo’s CBS affil, KMOV. Btw, the CSD slot at KMOV is now off the table. Back to the talented Tom, who has always let his modesty get in the way of the fact he is one of the VERY BEST producers around. I worked with him back in the KDNL days, when they were ABC. Other calls on Tom’s resume include WHNS and WCBD. Best news…his commute is shorter and his family doesn’t have to pack a single box. A huge and special Well Dunne! to Tom.

Speaking of KTVI/KPLR, the lovely SUSIE SHRAPPEN, who is CSD at the above mentioned station duop, is getting married in September. The lucky man is one of the good ones. Well Dunne! you two.

Job Alert: CSD and Promo Manager slots open at KPRC, NBC in Houston. GARY WANN is moving up Interstate 45 to Dallas, where he’ll join the VP club at NBC’s KXAS. His official new title is VP of Marketing and Brand Development. He’ll be starting Monday, thus the empty slots in Houston at the Post Newsweek operation. Gary is muy talented and has worked in such towns as Charlotte, Detroit and Dallas/Ft. Worth. That’s him in the picture, btw. He’s got a great smile, btw. Well Dunne! Gary.

OMG…why didn’t we think of this ourselves? Scene: Downtown LA…big event at Nokia or Staples. Problem: parking (since limos are really stretching the budget nowadays) . Answer: ParkWhiz. You select your closer-than-this spot online, pay for it, print out your receipt and worry no more. A guaranteed parking place. Brilliant.

Someone…anyone…what is the marketing point of Maybelline mascara using the Magnum PI theme music? Huh? I see no connection between the two….anybody?

One of the nicest things about the Hearst group is their propensity to promote from within. They’re true to form with a promotion at their Lancaster, PA NBC affiliate, WGAL. Adding Senior to her writer-producer title is ELIZABETH (LIZ) MONTIJO, who’s a 6+  year vet. She’s now CSD JOHN BALDWIN’s right hand man. Liz in a Philadelphia lady who makes the trek daily to the station. That’s dedication, especially in the winter. Well Dunne! Liz.

Also contributing to the creative output at WGAL is local guy DOUG HALLMAN, who started out as an Intern.  With his degree from Goshen College,  Doug has his first official job and is doing super. Well Dunne! Doug.

The hat trick third addition for WGAL is ROBERT McGUNNIGLE, who made the switch from his writer producer slot at WHP TV, the CBS affil. Well Dunne!

Ever wonder about how that email will read on the receiving end? Was that too perky or, worse, too angry? Fear no more…Tone Check is at your service. Love their slogan: don’t sent the wrong message.

Some people are destined to be near great bodies of water. So it seems for DAVE TOWNS, the newest member of Raycom’s NBC affil, WMBF. Located in lovely Myrtle Beach, SC, Dave seems at home and happy near the beach, having spent a lot of this time growing up on the eastern shore of [...]
