Family first…it’s one of the most cited reason for job changes. With the real estate market rather iffy, with children wanting to stay in their classes, with elderly parents needing more and more help, family reasons are behind more and more job switches. Such is the case with CHUCK SPRUILL who is leaving Belo’s WVEC in the Norfolk VA market and joining WPDE down in the Florence – Myrtle Beach, SC market. Yep, his family is there and he’s been seeing them only on weekends. Not to mention taking that 300 mile trip on weekends. No fun. Now Mr. Chuck is going to be a much happier guy. And he deserves it. He does great creative work, too. Win-win. Well Dunne! Chuck.

Taking Chuck’s place at WVEC is ED TUDOR, who has experience running creative departments and has been at WVEC for the last year or so. Ed’s one of the good guys and he’ll no doubt take everything up a notch in Norfolk. Well Dunne! Ed.

Are you peanut butter or are you jelly? Not only do great sandwiches require the right balance of both, but so do creative projects. Great article on finding more time for creativity, and sandwiches…

Some folks get all the luck. Like getting to live and work in Oceanside markets. Such is the case with ED TUDOR, who is a Jacksonville, FL guy and was part of WJXT and WTLV/WJXX along the first coast. Then he made stops at Belo’s KHOU in Houston (on the Gulf) and WWSB in beloved Sarasota, FL. America’s Monaco, imo. I didn’t mention the Little Rock Promo Manager gig, since their water is bottled. Now Mr. Ed is doing promo magic at WVEC in Norfolk. WVEC’s building sits right on the water, so Mr. Tudor’s streak of being waterside is not only unbroken, but amazing. Great news, Ed…Well Dunne! And great news for CSD CHUCK SPRUILL.

Speaking of WVEC, job alert! They need yet another super promo pro writer producer. Super shop. Behave accordingly.

Happy Birthday, one day late, to Well Dunne! Talent’s JOE CALI. Hated to miss that celebration. Also a belated birthday to the one and only SHORTY BACON.

Really rough weather for so many of us. Just got my cable back, which meant no TV, no Internet and no phone for nearly 2 days. The pioneers were amazing people and no doubt on the verge of madness every winter. Stay warm out there and remember, the only ice one would ever need is in a glass.

It’s a promotion for EMILY CHRISTNER at TV Guide Digital. She’s now VP of Marketing and will handle such efforts as TVGuide.com and TV Guide Mobile. Emily holds an MBA from NYU and an undergrad degree from Boston College. She’s worked for the Boston Bruins as well as the Fleet Center in Beantown. Well Dunne! Emily on TV Guide.

Job Alert – If you’re into the lovely beachy kind of life style, then the opening in the Norfolk market might just be right up your alley! Belo’s ABC station in the Hampton Roads market is looking for a writer producer. CSD CHUCK SPRUILL is the man you need to talk with. WVEC are the calls. Use my name!

It’s a promotion for TV Land’s KIM ROSENBLUM, who now has EVP Marketing and Creative on her door. She’s been with them since 2001 and was with Nickelodeon before that. Did I mention she also produced for Young & Rubicam and DMB&B? Yep, all NYC of course. The University of Iowa grad must feel like she’s back in the Midwest, where shoveling out from big snows is not all that rare. Well Dunne! Kim.

Ahhh, this makes one blush. CHUCK SPRUILL got his new job via this very blog. Chuck is going to Belo’s ABC affil in Norfolk, WVEC come June 7. He learned about the opening when he read that CLYDE BECKER was going to The Reelz Channel. The rest, as they say, is the beginning of a new chapter of history. It’s a homecoming for Chuck, actually. He was born in Norfolk and then moved just south to NC. He’ll be closer to his family now, as well as outstanding seafood and lots of bridges. A grad of East Carolina in Greenville, Chuck literally stumbled into the TV studio there and knew instantly he had found his calling. That was 25 years ago, and he still loves the tube. Since leaving WBTW in the fall of 2007, Chuck has run cs3media…creating ads/marketing plans/branding for small businesses and non-profits. Prior to WBTW, Mr. S 5 years as the creative director with a local ad agency, and before that spent 9 years with ABC affiliate WPDE. He’s worked for CBS affil WNCT – his first job in the biz. Well Dunne! Chuck.

BETTY WHITE is the hottest mama out there right now, and well deserved. She rocked SNL and drew in the numbers, leading to the possibility of CAROL BURNETT doing a host turn for them. Loving it. Betty, btw, is guesting on Leno tonight. I hope he asks her what vitamins she’s taking.

Loving the new Snapple spots featuring the trio of Pandas. And the lines! OMG so good!
Sales guy to Pandas: Are you familiar with tea?
Panda: Hello, we’re from China. We know tea.

It’s outta control! And it can ruin your TV viewing experience, no matter what platform you’re choosing.
