The powers of ESP. Some believe…some don’t. Perhaps it was ESP that found DOUG DONAHOO written up back in late June as the new CSD of Kansas City’s KCTV. At the time, it wasn’t accurate. Apologies were made – forgiveness bestowed. However, all the signs were there. For instance, Doug’s a KU Jayhawk and the station is not all that far from his alma mater. Yes, he worked at KCTV, the CBS affil, as a Promo Producer before heading to The Duke City and taking on the title of Multi Media Production Supervisor for Hearst’s KOAT. So the ties to KC are deep. The CSD slot has been open a very long time and Doug was a candidate that knew the market, knew the station and had the enthusiastic talent to nail it. Like all good things that are awaited, it’s now official that Mr. D is beginning this very day (if you read this Monday). A wonderful end to a tale of ESP and talent that never gives up. A very sincere and fervent Well Dunne! Doug.

Was watching for MANNY DELA ROSA at the Critics Choice Awards, but didn’t glimpse him. Did anybody?

Albuquerque to Austin to hometown KC…it’s DOUG DONAHOO’s story, and he sounds like he’s thrilled to be home. Doug was at Hearst’s KOAT in The Duke City before taking the Brand Manager slot at Media General’s KXAN in the Texas capital (and all round great town). But a Jayhawk is a Jayhawk and, as Kansas’ own Dorothy said, “There’s no place like home.” Doug is now hanging his creative hat at KCTV, the CBS affil in Missouri’s western city which is shared with, what else, Kansas. He’ll have great bar-b-q and is a scant 40 miles from Lawrene, where his Jayhawks play. Happy endings…the best kind. Well Dunne! Doug!

Yes, that is the Oishii Dare To Make poster as our visual today boys and girls. Why? Because its adorable. Carry on.

Austin and Albuquerque have more in common than both starting with the letter ‘A’. Both cool places to live, filled with artists and university students. Both named after historical figures, namely Stephen F Austin and the 8th Duke of Albuquerque, a Spanish nobleman. Both hosting Must-See events like Austin’s SXSW and Albuqueque’s balloon festival. Now we must add another similarity to the list: home to DOUG DONAHOO. Mr. D is leaving Hearst’s KOAT in Albuquerque where he’s been for the last several years and heading to FOX in Austin. Doug’s a Kansas guy and a Jayhawk through and through, so it will be an adventure living where Longhorns rule. Big Well Dunne! to you Doug.

Kudos to SHANNON DRIVER who is now Senior Vice President of Network Marketing and Creative Services for HGTV, DIY Network and Great American Country. Well Dunne!

A bit of confusion on what day precisely is International Coffee Day. Google and its many sources have it listed as today (if you read this the last day of September 2015) or October 1. Of course it’s a PR move – this one by the London-based International Coffee Organization, a UN entity – but a very nice one indeed – especially if they can nail down the date. On tap for the day is a focus on international fair trade coffee as well as discounts and perhaps even free cups. Plan accordingly and celebrate coffee both days.

What does Albuquerque, New Orleans and London have in common, besides being unique locales on the blue marble? The three cities have (or will be) home to ETHAN EDWARDS, who begins his slot as Assistant Promotion Manager at Hearst’s ABC affil KOAT in New Mexico just in time for the July 4 holiday. Fireworks in the desert sky…excellent.  Ethan was born in Portland, Oregon but was raised in Smithfield, VA (home of ham and a super gorgeous Inn). He interned at CBS in London during the Gulf War and his first job in the biz was a nightside assignment editor in Greensboro, NC at WFMY. He’s going to be a big asset to KOAT’s CSD DOUG DONAHOO. And he’ll be missed by CSD BILLY PILGRIM at WDSU down N’Awlins way. Well Dunne! Ethan.

Going to the PROMAX Station Summit next week in Vegas? Then keep your eyes peeled for the Well Dunne! stringer, STEVE PATRICK. Sure, he’s there to learn and to present at the Ellen hoo-ha, but he’s been kind enough to take pictures and send them back for this very blog. Steve is now with WHEC in Rochester, so hunt him down if he doesn’t find you first.

Summer’s over (deep sigh) and it’s time to roll up our sleeves to get some work done.

Out in Albuquerque, CSD TONY REED at Hearst’s ABC affil KOAT is welcoming an Assistant Creative Services Director aboard. DOUG DONAHOO will be heading west from his current slot in Kansas City at Meredith’s KCTV where he’s been writing and producing. The Kansas boy will love the Southwest. And he’ll arrive just in time for the breathtaking Balloon Fiesta. KOAT has an excellent view of the festivities from their parking lot, btw, so Doug will knew he’s not in Kansas anymore. Well Dunne! Doug.

The lure of New Orleans is proving too much for JOSH MEZA, who’s going to return to WWL as Promo Manager. The LSU grad worked at Belo’s CBS affiliate in The Crescent City before getting tapped by BRIAN BLUM in market #1. Josh has been writing and producing for FOX’s NYC flagship for the past three years. Brian hates to see him go, but shares that it’s a well deserved move for Josh and will reunite him with Cajun cooking. Cajun is one of the few cuisines that New York can’t really top. Well Dunne! Josh.

And that means Brian is going to need a replacement. So Job Alert! – top notch writer producer needed at WNYW.

Another one. Job Alert: Freelance Creative Director for Telepictures out in Burbank.
