Talk about a change in scenery. KELLY LAMBERT is trading Boston for Houston. She’s staying in TV marketing, of course, but lobster is being replaced by Gulf Coast shrimp as a menu item. For Kelly, Hearst’s ABC affil in Bean Town WCVB is being replaced by Post Newsweek’s KPRC as employer. And Ms. Kelly is stepping into management with the post of Brand Manager over on the Southwest Freeway for her new job. It’s not her first  Post Newsweek slot…she was down in Jacksonville at WJXT, where her new boss MIKE GUERRIERI once worked as well. Thanks to WCVB’s CSD RUSS NELLIGAN for the update. He’s, of course, looking to replace her. And a Well Dunne! to you Kelly.

Job Alert – Topical w/p for WTVJ Miami

I shall miss ROGER EBERT very much. He was an excellent writer. I hope to see him at the movies in the great beyond….

The Windy City is set to welcome a new creative in the form of GRANT HORNE, who is taking the Promotion Manager slot at FOX Chicago. Grant is a particularly super guy, and he was written up in a previous Well Dunne blog post. He’s been at WCVB, the Hearst ABC in Boston, working with another favorite, CSD RUSS NELLIGAN. Once in Chicago, Grant will report to the lovely and talented CARRIE KING and, as a bonus, get to work with Well Dunne! Talent’s NICK SANABRIA, who knows Chicago like the back of his hand. He’ll be a big help, Grant. Well Dunne!

Elsewhere in Chicago, ROGER EBERT is fighting a recurrence of his cancer. I hope you’ll join in sending him healing wishes for an end to his health issues. Always been a huge Ebert fan.

EVAN MINSKOFF is a hoot…he describes himself on his Twitter page as: “SVP, Marketing & Brand Strategy @OvationTV. Comedy-writing, sitcom-loving, carb-obsessed dog fanatic.” Who doesn’t love that??  He’s coming to Ovation from head of branding at Gilt Group. His background is most impressive…Disney, Digitas and The About Group. Well Dunne! Evan.

Getting to stay where you’re happy but working for a company with stations all across the country is a dynamite gig, especially in today’s world, even with the rotten TSA attitude and delays at airports. Bonus if you’re home amongst the palms. One such lucky soul, and the focus of today’s post, is KATHY MOSHER-BOULE. The Indiana U grad is leaving her old position of nearly 17 years as VP of Business Development for the FX Group to work with LIN as their Manager of On-Air Image and Design. Such a cool job for such a super creative (who has such an eye!). Can’t wait to sit and talk about it one day soon Kathy. Until then, a big Well Dunne!

Univision has upped MONICA TALAN to EVP of Corporate Communications and PR. Before that, Ms. Monica was SVP. Yes, she does an amazing job. A very Well Dunne! Monica.

This winter has been particularly difficult. In late February, BRIAN LUSK passed away suddenly. Brian was a great friend as well as the social media manager for Southwest Airlines – a pioneer in social media. Southwest gave him the room to do a fabulous job, and their social presence is considered one of the best in the country. Of course, he learned marketing at SMU.

Today I found out a former promotions pro passed away Monday evening in San Antonio. CHERYL PORTER was at KSAT, ABC in San Antonio through several owners and ended up running the department. She was organized, intelligent and taught those around her the things that college fails to impart. Working with her was a real pleasure. She left TV to work where her heart was happy – a church. She will be missed.

‘The Hat’ is back. If you got that email and work at CBS’ KOVR in Sacramento,  then you know it’s the way the station welcomed back PAUL KRAMER, now Promotion Manager under CSD DON SMITH. Paul wrote and produced at KOVR before heading across town to be Creative Services Production Manager at FOX affil KTXL.  The San Francisco State University grad also worked at American Zoetrope – yep the Coppola and Lucas film studio. What did he do there in his seven years?  He did just about everything. And how did he get the moniker ‘The Hat’? By wearing the same one. Easy question.  A big Well Dunne to you Paul.

Abilene, Texas is just down the Interstate from Sweetwater, home of the big rattlesnake roundup. Yeah, not on the Bucket List, but interesting nonetheless.  When the brave and bold KAREN YARBROUGH (KTAB’s Creative leader) showed up at said event, just this last Friday, she showed more chutzpah than anyone else I know in TV when she skinned a rattlesnake…yes, she really skilled a rattlesnake. GABRIEL REDONDO is one of those lucky guys who was born, raised and now works in one of America’s most amazing locales – San Antonio TX. He’s been at NBC affil WOAI (which is on the river, btw…a very cool spot in the Spurs’  hometown) as part of their creative effort, and is now going to head up the department. He has his broadcasting degree from Texas State University at San Marcus, noted for LBJ’s alma mater. San Marcus is also noted for the amazing outlet mall. Just sayin. Well Dunne! Gabriel.

Speaking of WOAI, let’s hear it for former CSD DAVID STOTTS who has gone to work for the NBA San Antonio Spurs. Well Dunne! David.

I write about lots of great, creative people. But when you write about someone special, it’s the most fun. Today, it’s fun to tell you about DON SMITH.  Mr. Don isn’t just muy creative, he’s also one of the good guys. And he’s been offered…and he accepted…the Creative Services Director job at CBS’ KOVR in Sacramento. He’s been there for a few years as Promo Manager, and this step into the “big chair” is going to be a real plus for the Sacto market. The station is very special to me…it was once owned by a friend’s father and was where a dear, departed colleague worked magic. Don fits into the KOVR family like a glove.  He’s a southern gentlemen hailing from Lake Charles, LA and has worked for Belo at their San Antonio and Houston operations, KENS and KHOU respectively. He did a super job at Hearst’s WESH in Orlando and went west to Salt Lake City’s KTVX. Many of you know Don as the guy who puts together that super blog, Idopromoz. So I know you’ll join me in sending out a great big Well Dunne! Don. So happy and proud.
