It was a red letter Thursday for JAY YOVANOVICH. He’s been named Promotion Manager at WRAL in the Raleigh-Durham market.  Yep, THE WRAL. Jay’s exchanging his Sr. Promo Writer Producer title for this new one. Jay’s been at the Capital Broadcasting-owned CBS affil since 2006. Shout out to CSD SHELLY LESLIE for the heads up. Well Dunne! Jay.

And another boost at WRAL comes to former Promo Pro JIM ROTHSCHILD, who is now Station Manager. Jim worked his way up the ladder at KMOV in St. Louis before joining WRAL as Stations Ops Manager. Well Dunne! Jim.

Out west, PAUL KRAMER moves to the Fox station in Sacramento as Creative Services Production Manager. The San Francisco State U grad was at CBS’ KOVR in the Cali capital. Well Dunne! Paul.

Think About This: "This is the first step toward understanding the process of real, lasting change: simply knowing with certainty that you can do whatever you need to do. This understanding has a dual edge: On the one hand it increases your confidence and dignity. On the other hand, it places full responsibility on you if you fail to make the change you set out to make. But this is a good thing, not a guilt trip." ~ Bo Lozoff

It’s a girl! I hope we get some kind of cigar situation for her arrival. Let’s hear it for the latest addition to the Yovanovich family of North Carolina.  Madelyn Grace Yovanovich was born on 3-11-10, weighing 7pd, 7oz. The little doll joins her big sister, Claudia who is 3. The two little girls call WRAL TV’s JAY YOVANOVICH dad. Jay is Sr. Promo Producer for the loverly and talented SHELLY LESLIE. Well Dunne! Dad. Don’t forget to update pictures! This gorgeous one of Mrs. Y and the new baby is just breathtaking.

On the other side of life, here’s an obit. Broadcast is dead. At least that’s what once head FCC Chairman Reed Hundt opined at Columbia when he confessed that the internet is getting the juice to be the “common media” that TV once was.

CTAM is having a Twitter Party. It’s conveniently on St. Pat’s Day. I’ll be there.

Voice based Bubbly is hot in India. Will it be the New Twitter? Do we REALLY need a new Twitter? Anybody remember when CB Radios were going to replace all known human communication?

Last week in Raleigh, the WRAL TV family were on hand when a brand new US citizen was sworn in. SHAN ZHONG, the Lead Designer at the Capital Broadcasting operation, was born in China…Nanjing to be precise. He came to the states to be an art student and decided the US was the place for him. After earning his Masters Degree in Computer Arts from Memphis College of Art, he quickly became a paperwork expert in order to stay stateside. That was 15 years ago. It all came together when he passed his citizenship test and was sworn in. And yes, I bet those of us born here would have a struggle with those 100 questions about our country. Shan has worked at WMC in Memphis before CSD SHELLY LESLIE grabbed him and she couldn’t be happier. Looks like a very happy group that Shan works with. On hand were WRALers BILL BURCH, STEVE LOYD, RANDY MEWS, STACIE HOLYFIELD, JAY YOVANOVICH, DEBBIE TULLOS, STEVE HAMMEL, Shan and Shelly.  Well Dunne! Shan.

Now, off to the very opposite side of the country – Oregon. L SCOTT WELLS is very excited about his new slot as Sr. Writer Producer at KEZI in Eugene. It’s the Chambers ABC affil in Eugene, home of U of Oregon which no doubt makes it a very fun place to live. Mr. W has been in the Portland market for years, and will still be close to family. It’s a win-win situation. Everybody is happy. LOVE that. Well Dunne!

A day late but still sincere – birthday wishes for Well Dunne! Talent’s CHUCK MATTHEWS. Have you given Chuck a listen? Just click on this name and then click on his demo. Yeah, he’s got a very good voice and you should consider him for your next choice.

Blogging the Super Bowl commercials from promo pros. Yep, that’s what is on the table. Gonna be fun. Sure do want one of the Invitees, but there’s a strong chance she’ll be at the game. How cool is that. Let me know if you’re interested!
