This time of year, there’s a great many life changing events going on off the job. Let’s catch up on them.  Also, let’s note that it’s now official, General Managers and News Directors are changing jobs WAY more frequently than Creative Marketing types. That is the inverse from the past when the ‘crazy creatives’ changed markets frequently. Theories on this seem to track with large ownership group purchases and how the job of Marketing Director is viewed in the corporate big picture.

But first, Well Dunne! to COURTNEY KUGEL, who is now Director, Publicity at Warner Bros Entertainment. She’s done a great job at her former publicity roles at Disney ABC Television Group and at NBCU.

Looking for something to watch?  Former TV promo pro WAHEED ALQAWASMI has a movie on Amazon for your viewing pleasure. Check out Lives Restarted and it’s uplifting message that love wins over hate. He was the Director. Here’s a friendly little link to help you out.

If any of you know Well Dunne! Talent’s SEAN CALDWELL, you might want to send his mom some healing thoughts and prayers. It would be most appreciated.

Think About This: “Of the gladdest moments in human life, methinks, is the departure upon a distant journey into unknown lands. Shaking off with one mighty effort the fetters of Habit, the leaden weight of Routine, the cloak of many Cares and the slavery of Civilization, man feels once more happy.”  ~  Sir Richard Francis Burton

What a long, slog of a week. But, from every face plant to the canvas, we rise…and better, bigger adventures greet us. Mold our growth. So, with that in mind, let’s focus at some fun things from promo types here and there, like WAHEED ALQAWASMI, late of TV promo at FOX in Memphis (Cox’s WHBQ) . He‘s in Oxford, Mississippi this weekend with his film, Lives Restarted for the Oxford Film Fest. It’s a documentary about Holocaust survivors…how they survived the camps, made their way here to the US, to Memphis specifically. How they restarted their lives…rose up. Can’t wait to see it – it’s more important now than ever. If you’re anywhere near Mississippi, go.  Well Dunne! Waheed.

The List’s Social Media guru LAUREL PORTIE doesn’t just go home and collapse in a heap on the sofa. No no no. She and her partner have She Bikes, a line of shirts for ladies who love to cycle…it’s great. And, since I’m not in government, I can tell you to buy one or two. Hit up Laurel or me for details.

Next time, we’ll introduce the new News Brand Manager at WTAE in Pittsburgh. Yehaw! Til then stay warm or head south. Well Dunne! everyone for surviving the week.
