Southern living isn’t just a magazine with great recipes and striking decorating ideas. Southern living is the pace, social mores and lovely lilt to life lived south of the Mason Dixon line…where thank you notes are still a thing and calling on neighbors to sit and chat over iced tea is done regularly. Getting his first taste of genteel southern life is PETER NOLL, who is the newest resident of Meridian, Mississippi. Besides unpacking from his move from California, PETER’s dance card will be full, what with him being the new Group Director of Marketing and Promotions for Waypoint Media. He’s wrangling Waypoint’s TV stations in Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas and Indiana. Peter has worked in marketing and as GM in Tulsa at KJRH, Bakersfield at KERO, WEWS in Cleveland … all after starting at KHOU in Houston. Normally, this is where we say Well Dunne! Peter, but let’s put a southern spin on it and say Well Dunne! Ya’ll.

Job Alert – Producer The Morning Blend KGUN Tuscon (tell ANDY SCHWABE hi!)

There’s nothing liberating, encouraging, exciting or smart about putting people in boxes and not letting them go. Sure, there’s the literal meaning with the accompanying legal repercussions, but the reality in most cases is the aggravating everyday practice of funneling talent into a box they’re already in and not allowing growth. More clearly, if you aren’t doing exactly a certain job phrased in the exact language used in an ad, then you have zero chance of even making a case to do the job in question. In other words, you’re in a box with no clear supportive development path. It stinks and it has to stop. Nobody finds their higher and best self in repetition. More on this to come…along with a very exciting announcement. Stay tuned.

There’s a mental list of Creatives who yearn to be a General Manager of a TV affiliate. It happens (perhaps not as often as it should) and it just happened again. Let’s hear it for the new GM of KERO TV in Bakersfield, CA….drum roll please…PETER NOLL. Fireworks would be a nice touch, since Mr. Peter has a marketing background and would appreciate the excitement the fireworks would bring. The Minnesota native has been in LA, well Burbank actually, working for Disney as the Director of ABC Affiliate Marketing and Promotion for the last five years. His promo chops were on display as CSD for Scripps in Tulsa at KJRH and Cleveland at WEWS. Yes, he’s returning to Scripps…a smart move. Along the career path he’s taken have been stops in Sacramento, Houston and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A big Well Dunne! to Peter on this exciting new step.

Love has been in the air – can you feel it? Making an early appearance, Cupid has beat the groundhog by several weeks, no doubt bringing about one such happy love event from the left coast. A wedding! All best wishes for ‘happily ever-aftering’ go to PETER NOLL, who tied the knot with this partner. Peter is Director Affiliate Marketing and Promotion for ABC out in Burbank. Smiles to you two! Well Dunne!

Well Dunne! Talent’s HARRY LEGG is a major martial arts guy. He loves it – and is pretty good at it. All said because he was in NYC Sunday night – and the mugger who jumped him from behind found out just how good Harry is with self-defense. Wow. Harry is 1,000% OK. He didn’t even sound nervous. Lesson – Don’t mess with him. Well Dunne! Harry.
