When in search of a promo producer, there’s a lot of talent to be found in news editing bays in your very own newsrooms. PHIL KRAFT, who is crafting promo gold for KGTV under CSD STAN MELTON JR in San Diego is one such former news editor. RANDAL GAGE, CSD for Hearst’s ABC affil, KOCO, in Oklahoma City took the same clever route to solve his open producer slot and has brought JESSICA CHALKER out of the WFAA Dallas news editing booths to his operation. Jessica is a grad of North Texas in Denton, which is conveniently on I-35 north from Dallas to OKC. She’s worked at several I-35 markets, like Austin and Waco where she was a photog and editor. Excellent news all round. Well Dunne! Jessica.

Now Cox is sending him to Orlando where he’ll be heading up ABC affil WFTV. Tony, you’re going to not miss scraping ice off your car one little bit. Well Dunne! on the new job, Tony.

The new head honcho of marketing for NBC is Showtime’s former marketing guru, LEN FOGGE. After 15 years at the cable net, Len is stepping into the official title of NBC Entertainment Marketing President, a shorter title than what he had at Showtime, which was Executive Vice President, Creative, Marketing, Research & Digital  Media, Showtime Networks Inc.  Whew! Len has a background with agencies before his long and impressive tenure at Showtime and is the immediate past Chairman of CTAM’s Board. Gotta love a guy who went to school with the Jesuits – holds a degree from St. Peter’s College.  Well Dunne! Len.

OK, so over at Showtime, we have changes. FRANK PINTAURO and DONALD BUCKLEY are now co-heads of the SNI creative operation, The Red Group, which was named best In-house Agency by PROMAX, btw. Both Frank and Donald are now EVP’s too. Donald has a background at Warner Bros, where he co-founded  Warner Bros online among other cool things. Well Dunne! Frank and Donald!

Also, Showtime has promoted SHARON ALLEN to SVP of Program Marketing and Advertising. Sharon is an active member of WICT and is a real go-getter. The UCLA grad is active in CTAM as well. Well Dunne! Sharon!

Job Alert: Promotions Producer and a Promotions Assistant needed at KHQ KNDU, KNDO, and SWX-TV…all 4 in Spokane.

the CSD in OKC at  Hearst, has news of his own. He just got engaged! All best wishes to you and the lovely bride-to-be, Randal!

If there’s somebody smarter about TV research than CBS’ DAVID POLTRACK, I don’t know who they are. Gotta take the time to read the latest from him and you’ll be up to date on consumer – product relationships.

Great little do-able stress relievers (not that you need them…) in a story called ‘how to stop stress in 60 seconds or less’ and it does not involve a gun.

A tardy but hardy welcome to WPTV’s Sr. Writer Producer RALPH CAPOBIANCO, who’s been making the creative efforts sing at the NBC affil in Palm Beach. Ralph’s been doing promo work for Raycom’s FOX affil down among the palms, and now that PTV is a news partner, Ralph’s wearing a new hat and doing great work. Thanks to CSD JAMES MCKAY for the info. Well Dunne! Ralph.

God bless JULIE WHITLEY’s heart. She’s the recently hired writer-producer for Hearst’s ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City, where today’s temperature is 106 according to their very sharp website. Julie is no stranger to heat – she’s from Waxahachie, TX, just south of Dallas. And she’s a grad of Baylor, where the temps in Waco also reach the heights. Now the good news in all this is that she’s working for the fabulous RANDAL GAGE. Definitely a hot shop  in all ways imaginable. Well Dunne! Julie!

Job Alert – Looks like they upped the ante at KGO in San Francisco, making that open CSD slot into a VP CSD slot.

All you LUCY fans out there – and that means me – beat the heat with a wonderful Hallmark Channel I LOVE LUCY marathon this Saturday and Sunday. Celebrating the 100th birthday of the redheaded comedian, who was born August 6, 1911.

Glad to see the FAA has been taken care of. No doubt the fear of yesterday’s No Fly blacklist turned the tide. (sarcasm alert)

THINK ABOUT THIS: "Or is that too much work, to think before you speak? For some people, it is. It’s a lot of work. For all of you who want to walk a spiritual path, I suggest you stop and take a look at all the things you think and all the assumptions that you make… before you speak. Try some discipline and see if you can, for a whole week, just watch your thoughts."  ~  Hinono
