WANE lining…that might be a way to describe the WANE-TV to WISH-TV connection that has two former WANEer TV promo talents now doing great things at CW affil WISH in Indianapolis. Joining former WANEer JERRY GRIDER, who is now WISH’s Promotion Manager, is COURTNEY HARSHMAN LEITSCHUH (pronounced ‘Light Shoe’) now his Assistant Promo Manager. The two call CSD SCOTT HAINEY boss. You do know, of course, that WANE is Fort Wayne’s CBS affil, owned by Media General – also the owner of WISH. Another WANE-WISH connection is the WANE News Director who was hired from (sure, go ahead…take a guess) WISH. Back to Ms. Courtney, who spent creative chop-honing time at NBC in Miami as well as being Sr. Creative Services Producer at WCPO in Cincinnati. She’s an Indiana U Bloomington grad and has a fabulous smile. Well Dunne! Courtney.

Sending comforting thoughts to BILL CASTELLO down in Waco who lost his father last week. God bless, Bill.

Think About This: A bedtime prayer “May the light of a thousand stars shine upon you. May the love of a thousand angels now surround you. May the trials of today be far behind you. May the deepest, sweetest sleep always find you.”  ~ Anna Taylor

Back Home Again In Indiana…that’s such a pretty song. It’s also kind of what JERRY GRIDER is doing. Let me turn this over to SCOTT HAINEY, the Director of Promotion and Creative Services at Indianapolis’ WISH TV: Jerry Grider joins our creative services team as our new promotion manager.  Jerry comes to us from our LIN station, WANE in Fort Wayne, where he has worked for the past 16 years.  During his 12 years as their promotion manager, Jerry has been an integral part of the team that led WANE to its success as the dominant station in the market.  His creative work has been honored with numerous PROMAX, Advertising Federation and IBA awards. A native of Indianapolis, Jerry graduated from Pike High School and went on to receive degrees from Berkley College and Marion College here in Indianapolis.  A huge Indy car and NASCAR fan, he is excited to be returning home to Indy with his wife and three children.  Well Dunne! Jerry and thanks so much Scott!

Kudos to CHRIS WOLF of WJZY/WMYT in Charlotte. He’s a music man…the one who guessed which Train song was playing for KRISTEN JOYAL’s proposal moment. Well Dunne! Chris.

FOX DC’s COSMO LOSCO (he’s the Promo Manager for their WDCA is at heart a film maker (so many of us are) and is looking for some investors for his latest project. Got a few bucks for a TV promo pro with his eyes on Sundance? Go here.

Think About This: “A true revolution of values will soon cause us to question the fairness and justice of many of our past and present policies. True compassion is more than flinging a coin to a beggar; it is not haphazard and superficial. It comes to see that an edifice which produces beggars needs restructuring. A true revolution of values will soon look easily on the glaring contrast of poverty and wealth.”  ~ Martin Luther King

Nothing like coming home, which is what KATIE WORTHAN did when she traded her writer producer slot at Hubbard’s NBC affil in Albuquerque, KOB, for the Sr. Writer Producer slot at LIN’s WISH in Indianapolis. She’s from Central Indiana, so it’s all a very good thing. Saw some of her work in NM and it was very good! Enjoy being home, Katie, and a shout out to your boss,  CSD SCOTT HAINEY.  Well Dunne!

KURT BARTOLICH will kick off February by taking the CSD slot at Meredith’s CBS affil in Kansas City, KCTV. Kurt has been in KC doing his own thing called Guts Marketing after being in Columbia, MO where he headed up corporate marketing for JW Communications, the owner of  KMIZ, the  ABC affil in that college town. A grad of Central Missouri State, Kurt spent several years with Magid. Well Dunne! Kurt.

Promo Whiz PHIL KRAFT, who is knockin’ ‘em dead at KTVT in DFW, has heard from his family members still living in Haiti and all is well. Or as well as can be expected. His Aunt and Uncle are healthy – their house not so much. His Aunt, btw, was the translator for PRESIDENT JIMMY CARTER on his visits to the island nation and she’s very well connected, speaking several languages. I wonder if your News Departments are actually thinking through the enormous details involved in going down to this country, which has NOTHING. They really need to give Phil a call and he can give you important tips, many which would be lifesavers. Lifesavers.

We can all afford to help in some way. End of lecture.

Think About This: "We each have the choice in any setting to step back and let go of the mind-set of scarcity. Once we let go of scarcity, we discover the surprising truth of sufficiency. By sufficiency, I don’t mean a quantity of anything. Sufficiency isn’t two steps up from poverty or one step short of abundance. It isn’t a measure of barely enough or more than enough. Sufficiency isn’t an amount at all. It is an experience, a context we generate, a declaration, a knowing that there is enough, and that we are enough." ~ Lynne Twist
