What’s your favorite song about Memphis? A musical town of renown, Walking in Memphis by Marc Cohn comes immediately to mind, right?. And it describes PETE GEORGE’s activity as of today…he’ll be walking in Memphis. And driving, and eating and working. Working where? Glad you asked. He’s the new Audience Development and Brand Manager for Raycom’s WMC, the NBC affil in the town branded Birthplace of Rock ‘n Roll. Pete’s coming over from Scripps’ KJRH in Tulsa where he’s been wrangling the marketing since he arrived from Pittsburgh’s Sinclair duop. A Penn State grad, he’s worked for FOX in Chicago as well as in Tampa and Orlando. Yes, doing promo, marketing, audience development, and whatever buzzword we’re calling it now. Did we mention he’s a great guy? Well, there’s that as well as his artistic talents. Enjoy the fine bar-b-q that Memphis is noted for and definitely hang on Beale Street when you want blues, Pete. Big Well Dunne!

TONY PIERCE isn’t in Kansas anymore. He went to college there…at Washburn where he studied Marketing. He worked in Kansas as Production Manager – twice – first at Topeka’s WIBW then at KTMJ. He was Promotion Manager at Scripps’ KSHB in Kansas City. But now he’s moved to Florida heading up his first Creative Services Director job at Scripps’ WFTX, FOX in Ft. Myers. Trading sunflowers for palm trees. Most gorgeous market for a very busy guy. Well Dunne! Tony.

More good news, which the people affected by the recent tornadoes in the southeast are going to love. You know about WDAM’s Pine Belt Strong telethon, which also had a big hand from Jackson, Mississippi’s WLBT, Biloxi’s WLOX and Memphis’ WMC. Another Raycom station, WALB in Albany, GA held a one day phone bank that raised more than $202,000. Called Rise Up for Recovery – Give for South Georgia Tornado Relief.  The telethon is ongoing…which means you can go online and continue to donate. CSD JIM BERNHARDT of WALB says it all goes to the Red Cross to help get people back on their feet. Bravo and Well Dunne! to all the hard work that helped raise $585,000 so far!

Who’s the new kid on the block at WMC in Memphis? None other than TERRYE BAKER, the new Marketing Manager for Raycom’s NBC affiliate in the city Elvis called home. Terrye has been in Chicago at NBC’s WMAQ writing and producing. Now she’s moving to a management slot under CSD JENNY SMITH, who is thrilled to have her as part of the marketing squad. Big Well Dunne! to Terrye.

All the best wishes to Miami’s NBC6 Promo Producer and Motion Graphic whiz JIM GRAVINA, who is a magician when he’s not doing TV marketing. It was indeed a magical moment when he asked his lovely girlfriend to be his wife. Yes, everybody was all smiles at the engagement.
