CSD JAMES GRIFFEL just loves living in Palm Beach. And why wouldn’t he? Palm trees, white sand beaches, his family is happy and now, he has a new Promotion Manager, so it’s all very good. Welcome (back) to Florida STEVE TUBBS. He worked early in his career in Panama Beach up in the Pahandle after getting his degree from the University of Colorado and breaking into the TV biz in Dodge City, Kansas at KBSD as a Photog. The TV promo game took him to Spartanburg (WSPA) and Phoenix (KTVK) Root Sports in Denver, and to Colorado Springs. He comes to Scripps’ WPTV in the Palm Beaches from Scripps sister station in Boise, Idaho, KIVI. Everybody seems very happy. The way it should be. Well Dunne! Steve.

Think About This:  “Don’t become preoccupied with your chlid’s academic ability, but instead teach them to sit with those sitting alone.  Teach them to be kind. Teach them to offer help. Teach them to be a friend to the lonely. Teach them to encourage others. Teach them to think about other people. Teach them to share. Teach them to look for the good. THIS Is how they will change the world.”  ~ somewhere on the internet

Anybody else into gardening? Growing plants and flowers…and veggies. Planting and watering and watching greenery grow. And when a particular plant begins to falter, it’s no doubt root bound and needs a new, larger pot in which to continue to bloom. People are much like plants. We need to repot ourselves when we become root bound…we need to choose to follow a new path. CHRISTINE BARON FUNK (let’s call her CHRISSY from now on) is literally taking a new path…she’s going to walk the Appalachian Trail, which if you aren’t aware of what a grueling challenge that is, you need to Google it now. The brave blonde has said adieu to her  CSD slot at Scripps’ WPTV in West Palm Beach, FL so she can take the hike of a lifetime, from Georgia to Maine. All 2,200 miles of it. TV will miss her terribly, but the energy, resolve, bravery and spunk (thanks Lou Grant) Chrissy has is absolutely awesome. Well Dunne! Chrissy. Can’t wait to see all the vistas you encounter.

Down in lovely Palm Beach, where The Season is in full swing, comes word of a lady who’s retiring from the TV world, which is great news for her but not so much for the clients, station and viewers of WPTV. CHARLENE MAVILLE is closing the door of her office on Friday. She’s been a producer and marketing coordinator, and she’s amazing. Happy clients. Smooth operations. Ideal. A multi-tasker extraordinaire, Charlene’s been with WPTV for 18 years. You have all day today to hit her up and tell her that she’ll be missed, and she should savor every day doing what she wants, client free! Big smile. Well Dunne! Charlene

Kudos to Promotion Manager JAMES GRIFFEL and the weather crew down at Palm Beach’s WPTV…their live Hurricane Matthew update on Facebook last night was great. Exactly what social media is meant to do. Was too slow to get a screen grab…will have to find out what they used…iPhone, etc. Well Dunne! James.

In NYC today (Tuesday)? Don’t miss your chance to have a picture with a Yeti. I presume it’s a real one, eh? Even in this nutzo election year, a Yeti is pretty rare on the NYC streets. Head to Flatiron Pedestrian Plaza (5th Ave and 23rd St) about 10 and smile. Not sure if saying cheese will set him off, but you can if you want. If you’re otherwise engaged, look for Yetis all over the Apple. 26 of them are promised. Iced coffee will be gratis at Union Square in the afternoon. This is all thanks to the Creatives in the Travel Channel promo department – they’re pushing Expedition Unknown: Hunt for the Yeti which premieres Wednesday. Don’t you just love the iced coffee touch? Well Dunne! Travel Channel.

Good news is even better when it sneaks up and surprises you. JAMES GRIFFEL did just that when he relayed that Monday (today if you’re reading this on Monday…duh) he begins his new slot as Promotion Manager for Scripps’ WPTV in gorgeous Palm Beach, Florida. He’ll be working with another favorite, the charming CSD CHRISTINE BARON. James has been lovin’ Florida and this is icing on the sunshine state cake of his. He’s from Up North, as they say, having worked in Philly, Flint, and Detroit. No wonder his family loves making sand castles on the beach – in February!  Let’s all hear it for a great guy with a great new slot. Well Dunne! James. Ps – see you guys soon….
