It’s the perfect…no the most perfect… time to be in New York City. Christmas tree going up at 30 Rock, ice skating, window shopping, more lights than ever. When KEITH MORAN shared that he was the new writer producer for VP MISSY CRAWFORD’s creative team at WNBC, the idea of how lucky he is was the first thing that popped to mind. Keith is going to be promoting the largest local TV investigative unit in NYC while working with Missy and Promo Manager PHYLLIS OHNEMUS. He calls it hitting the promo home run. His first spot dealt with their chief investigative reporter going to Europe to follow the NYPD anti-terror program. As if he needs more to be ideal, his hometown of Schenectady is just two plus hours north. Keith has moved from Chicago, where he was a promo producer at the FOX/CW duop for VP STEVE DONALD, who Keith says gave him his first big market. Niiiice. Mr. Moran has also worked doing promo and production in St. Louis, Indianapolis, his hometown at WRGB and in Albany. Can’t wait to see you soon, KM. Til then a big Well Dunne! Keith!

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, it’s time to enjoy what might be the funniest TV episode – ever – the Turkey Promotion epi of WKRP in Cincinnati. “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly,” is a line so classic, nothing more needs to be added. We all have stories about promos, events, shoots, people that did something silly…and it’s time to wrangle them in one place. Enter the brains of Topical Boot Camp, SYDNEY RUBIN, who is collecting antedotes, stories, and even folk tales of promo mishaps. What Fun! Share with her and we’ll all have some great laughs. Yes, names will be changed if requested to protect the guilty or easily embarrassed.
Time to rethink your voices for your stations…lots of contracts expire end of December. The only choice is Well Dunne! Don’t think otherwise.

New York – Market #1. Over at WNBC, the marketing division has a new #2 in the form of the lovely PHLLLIS OHNEMUS, recently promoted by the one and only MISSY CRAWFORD, VP of Creative and Marketing. Love hearing from MC and this is what she told us about Phyllis: Phyllis is a creative force with over 15 years of experience writing, producing and directing television campaigns. She’s known for creating fantastic work and she does it with confidence, enthusiasm and a smile. Phyllis has worked for WNBC since 2005, and as a full-time member of the Creative Services team since 2011. Her background also includes producing creative campaigns for LXTV and Fox 5 in New York. Before that she was Director of Marketing at Clear Channel Entertainment in Philadelphia where she oversaw marketing campaigns for Broadway touring shows. In her new role, Phyllis will supervise the Creative Services team. She will oversee image campaigns, news topicals, I-Team promos, POPs, billboards, print, radio, cable and social media. She’s studied at Arizona State and Temple. Now this is the most interesting part – she’s been an elephant rider, trapeze artist and dancer for circuses here and in Mexico. Coolness at the epitome of coolness! Wanna hear more about that. In the meantime, let’s have a Big Apple Well Dunne! for Phyllis.

Trading one city that begins with a vowel for another city that begins with a vowel is MICHAEL BROUDER. He’s the new Creative Services Director at Tribune’s WXIN/WTTV, the Fox and CW affiliates in Indianapolis respectively. He’s coming north from Atlanta, where the Iowa State alum was Marketing Director at Fo Sports Net South. Michael is a Trib alum too. His first job in TV was at WGN in Chicago where he began as a writer/producer and worked his way up to CSD. Well Dunne! Michael.

Huge Well Dunne! going to Coke for their elegant effort to raise awareness of polar bears. Look for white – not red, but white – Coke cans. The polar bear has been a Coke spokesperson and part of their marketing efforts. Now, Coke has donated $2 million to help them and will match another $1 mil from donations from Coke drinkers. The white cans are done in concert with World Wildlife Fund.

Bidding adieu to ABC in the Bay Area is MISSY CRAWFORD. Her Creative Services Director slot is already listed on the KGO site (Job Alert!) and rumor has it that she’s headed down the peninsula to NBC’s KNTV to do promo. But it’s only a rumor…haven’t been able to hook up with Missy yet. Perhaps a temporary Well Dunne! is best in this case but it’s still sincere and excited…
The gorgeous picture is from Brazil, where Well Dunne! Talent’s DENA YASNER was spending some quality time. This is the view from her balcony, which is very different from her Scottsdale view. She’s now back and ready to give your projects that special sumin’ sumin’.
All you PROMAXers assembled in Vegas. Don’t forget to meet up with KNTV’s JIM KOONCE, who is adding a title to his CSD one…he’s stringing for this very blog. His snaps will be posted when they arrive. Have a blast and good luck in the casinos.
