I am rather jealous of WILL VARNIER.  He’s been the VP/CSD in Norfolk at WTKR/WGNT, the Scripps owned CBS/CW affiliates respectively. He’s headed to Kansas City to work with former CSD CURTIS MILES who’s running the show at KCTV, CBS in the city of Harry Truman and The Chiefs (not to mention killer cold temps of late). A GM that ‘gets’ the complex job of what a Creative Services Director does. Rare. Had a great conversation with another former CSD now GM and we both see the CSD as the best candidate for GM slots. Back to Will…he and Curtis have Portsmouth’s WVEC in common, where Will moved from punching newscasts at the then Belo-owned shop to Ad and Promo Manager there. This will be his first gig outside the Tidewater Virginia area…he’s even a grad of Old Dominion U. Well Dunne! Will.
