Yes, it’s St. Pat’s Day, Please imbibe accordingly. And should you think that sending green carnations is corny, then you won’t understand why I miss my dad so much, particularly today.

The smart folks at Seattle’s PBS outlet, KCTS, have wisely named CARLOS ESPINOZA VP Marketing and Communications. He’ll be bringing all his talent and experience to a fabulous operation. Many of you remember him from the time he spent heading up the creative at KOMO and KIRO, the ABC and CBS affiliates respectively. Seattle is an amazing market and he’s a lucky man to be there. He also headed up development for Aloe Entertainment and was CMO at SwordStone Digital Agency. I didn’t ask him if he was one of the Seattle coffee guys…next time. Well Dunne! Carlos.

JIM GORMAN’s creative department at NYC’s flagship WABC just announced two exciting happenings. First, KRISTIE GONZALES is going to be taking the Promotion and Digital Brand Manager slot that opened when KAY PONDER announced her retirement. Ms. Kristie will take I-95 north from Raleigh, where she’s been heading up the Creative Services and Programming for WTVD, another ABC property. She’s no stranger to the NE, having worked at WPVI in Philly and WSFN in Fresno. She’ll be starting April 7. Well Dunne! Kristie.

Secondly, promo producer BRANDON NELSON has been promoted to Senior Promotion Producer. He’s a talent that has been on the front line of WABC’s news topical and image efforts, and he’s the go-to guy who knows how to keep the brand happy and on course. Well Dunne! Brandon.

The festival is over, but the Sundance Channel, now called SundanceTV (no space between) is making news. This time, it’s a promotion. DREW PISARRA has been upped to VP of Digital Media and Marketing. It’s a new business card from the old one, which was VP Digital Media at AMC. The Hofstra grad is an amazing writer. So much so, he was the Sr. Online Editor of New York Magazine as well as Regional Editor of Citysearch.com. A big Well Dunne! Drew.

CARRIE KING knows Chicago. I don’t mean just how to navigate amongst the cities, towns and streets nor do I mean which restaurants have the best of whatever it is your pallet desires. No, I mean Carrie KNOWS Chicago and as much as she know Chicago, she knows how to market even more. Whew…sounds hyperbolic, but it’s just a fact. Carrie is heading up a new entity which will draw on her days as creative at WGN and FOX up in The Windy City. New entity is tagged Creative Forces. In her own words, “Creative Forces is a group of international award-winning visual storytellers who specialize in creating break-through brand strategies that deliver high-profile and extremely profitable market positions.” How cool is that! So, all you corporate, network and cable kids…you need to mentally bookmark Carrie’s endeavor and, ahem….use her! Well Dunne! Carrie.

Sometimes the answer to your problem is no farther away than…well than just down the hall. Such was the case when WMAR’s CSD ALEX SHAW went searching for a new creative services writer producer, an item getting to be as scarce as unicorns. Baltimore’s ABC affiliate now has found such a creative and Mr. Shaw is thrilled to tell us about ADAM MIZRAHI, who was freelancing for Alex back in November and is now a bonafide part of the creative team. Great to hear. Adam is a U of Maryland College Park grad who loves film and has worked at Percepto Studios in Charm City, as well as handled freelance projects. Sounds like this is going to be a very good pairing. Well Dunne! Adam!

I’ve known MARSHALL HITES for quite some time, and he’s absolutely super. Yes, his name does sound like a Cleveland suburb (a joke that he doesn’t always find as funny as I do) yet he’s absolutely an A-1 guy in every sense of the word. Just yesterday he got a wonderful push up the ladder with Tribune, who named him SVP, Marketing and Creative Services. That title means he’ll be overseeing all 42 of Trib’s stations. Best yet, he gets to stay in LA, which I know makes his wife and son very happy. Mr. H has worked at WKJS in Jacksonville, WFLA in Tampa, KCAL/KCBS in LA and has been helming KTLA’s marketing since 2011. And to think it all started in his hometown of Augusta, GA. A big hug goes along with this Well Dunne! Marshall.

Nothing sparks up a dreary Monday like happy news, and that is exactly what happened when MELISSA CRAWFORD sent an email about the new Promotion Manager at WNBC. Melissa is the VP of Creative and Marketing at the New York flagship and she is delighted to promote MICKEY ADOLPH into the job…he’s earned it.  She and Mickey have not only worked together at KNBC, where he was writing and producing before his promotion, but at KGO and KNTV, both the ABC and NBC operations in San Francisco. Mickey is a California guy who has made the transition to NYC beautifully (and no doubt with a great coat, muffler and gloves). A very big Well Dunne! Mickey.

If you read this Monday, then it’s the first day ROBYN KEENEY is spending as Promotion Manager at KABB in San Antonio. She’s getting into place just in time to settle and ready herself for San Antonio’s city-wide party known as Fiesta; simply amazing is the only way to describe it. Nothing like it in Atlanta, where Robyn has been Promotion Manager at CBS’ WGCL. Robyn has also been a writer producer for Atlanta’s WSB and a news producer at WJW Fox in Cleveland. Well Dunne! Robyn.

She’s Assistant News Director at WIS. Come June, the two will walk down the aisle back in South Carolina. What a great year 2014 is proving to be for Patrick. The gorgeous eastern part of North Carolina is where our news comes from today…from Marketing Manager MARC Morriston (isn’t that fun to say…several times in a row please) who has filled two slots in his CBS/CW operation in the Greenville-New Bern market. AARON BEVILL is the new Marketing Producer. He’s an East Carolina U grad who has been in the film world before choosing to join TV (which is the hot creative place to be). Besides doing freelance production, he wrote and directed several short films, including one called Missing Peace about a WW2 vet. That short film is in the US Holocaust Memorial Museum – very impressive.

The new Promotion Manager is JASON BULLOCK who’s handling commercial production. He’s a UNC-Pembroke guy who has worked at News14 Carolina and had his own production company in Raleigh. You’re both making a big happy difference…Well Dunne!

Is there a more gorgeous place than San Diego? I know…Hawaii. True. Charleston and New Orleans would be #1 but for the humidity. No, San Diego wins. La Jolla puts it over the top. Adding to the cache of San Diego come March 10 will be talented MIKE STEWART, who’ll be moving to the Golden State to take over the creative lead at the CBS affil, KFMB. Mike’s a Tulsa guy who earned his degree at KU (he’s a Kansas Jayhawk) before breaking into the biz in his hometown’s ABC affil, KJRH. He was in the newsroom as an Assignment Editor before seeing the creative light and moving to the ad/promo side as a producer. From there he headed to KPRC in Houston and was Promotion Manager until getting tapped at CBS’ KTVT in Dallas-Ft. Worth. Well Dunne! on this exciting new job, Mike.

What a brilliant bunch of folks they are at Dallas-based AR&D. They tapped someone who really knows marketing to be their Marketing pro…someone who has a track record that impresses – and she knows what she’s doing. Yep, hats off to the AR&D folks who will welcome ROBIN HOFFMAN to their lineup come March 10. Ms. Robin hates to leave the good people at Scripps’ KMGH in Denver…after all, she’s worked with the GM there, Byron Grandy, for 12 years beginning when McGraw Hill was the owner. But when opportunity calls, it’s a sign to write a new life chapter. She’ll stay in Denver to boot. Ms. Robin has worked in the Hampton Roads market as well as Toledo – in TV marketing of course. A big Well Dunne! to her.

Let me correct an error made last week….I posted about SALLY SAPUTO and her CSD KENT KAY. Well, their station is not affiliated with the network I said…their station is KESQ is an ABC affil. And they’re located in Thousand Palms, not Palm Desert. So there.

Moving to LA? In LA and looking for new digs? Then I have the man for you. MARC GRAYSON, formerly with Universal (and a legend in how good he could cut deals) is now part of the The Collective Realty. Right on Santa Monica just east of La Cienega.  You’d be in the best hands in LA and he understands this biz.

Paul has been a fixture at WPLG since 1987. He began as a promo producer, coming from producing at NBC affil in the market. Soon he was Promo Manager then CSD. And it all began in Central Illinois at WCIX in Springfield. He’s a grad of University of Miami and had the incredible luck of staying in the market he loved. A huge Well Dunne! Paul.

Palm Springs is a wonderful place. Little white sparkly lights wrapped around palm trees – stretching for miles. Ah….delightful. For those into no humidity climates, even better. Such is the locale for Ms. SALLY SAPUTO who just got a promotion. She’s now the Sr. Creative Services Writer Producer for CSD KENT KAY at KESQ, the NBC affiliate in Palm Springs. OK, it’s officially in Palm Desert, which must be exactly like Palm Springs without the springs. Anyway, Sally is a Univ of Tennessee at Marin grad who has interned in Lexington at WTVQ before heading out west where she was writer and producer for Kent. Excellent news and Well Dunne! Sally.

Heading to Chicago is STEVE DONALD who will be taking the VP of Creative Services slot for WFLD, Fox’s station. It will be quite a change, since Steve is currently VP of Marketing and Creative Services for Sunbeam TV’s WSVN out of Miami. As in sunny south Florida Miami – where the temperature at the time of me writing this is …. 80. In Chicago at the time of this writing, it is 26 and snowing. Steve isn’t a stranger to winter…he spent a lot of time in Boston overseeing Sunbeam’s station there, so he probably has the proper clothing. A big warm Well Dunne! Steve.

Sometimes, one can find themselves in a familiar spot, but realize they have grown from the time they left until the time they returned. When JIM HART looks back at the adventures he’s had since he left being CSD at Scripps’ KNXV in Phoenix, he’ll have a lot to ponder. Today (Monday) marks his return to the ABC affil as head of marketing, and he has put a lot of mileage on his life’s odometer. He’s been consulting the marketing efforts of one of Scripps’ syndicated shows and launched it. That alone would be enough, but no…Jim went to exploring in Europe where he walked The Camino in Spain. If you don’t know what that is, look it up and you’ll agree it’s an amazing journey on many levels. So glad to see Jim back in the Valley of the Sun and happy. Well Dunne! Mr. Hart.

Remember when watching the Super Bowl was a one-screen event and you had to wait to see not only who won the game but wait to view all the cool adverts in it? Today’s multi-screen world has given a lot of pre-play to the $4 million ads as well as all kinds of buzz. More bang for the buck. In pre-game coverage, it seems that touching the heart spots are back – perhaps one will be akin to the famous Mean Joe Green spot that always lands in the Top Commerials of All Time list.

It’s been a tough week for a lot of you…the gates to the  Rainbow Bridge section of heaven have swung open. Sadly, CHARLIE VAN DYKE, ANDREA LAIGN, and Well Dunne’s MIKE BRATTON have all lost their dogs. Sending all of you condolences.

Think About This:  “The world is full of love that goes unspoken. It doesn’t mean it is felt less deeply or that separation eases a cleaner wound. It’s beauty and it’s pain are in its silence.”  ~  Jess Williams for BBC’s Call the Midwife series
